An invitation-only event, this session is designed to invite feedback on an ambitious new Emissions Scenarios Portal (ESP), an online platform to enable users to easily visualize a range of future GHG pathways.

This informal breakfast session at COP 22 in Marrakech is designed to receive early feedback on an ambitious new Emissions Scenarios Portal, a project initiated by the World Resources Institute (WRI) and Google, and with the intention of partnering closely with many others, in particular the expert modeling community.

The project aims to develop an online, open platform that will enable users to easily visualize a range of future GHG pathways linked to different scenarios of economic and energy development, drawing from a variety of modeling tools. It will provide information from scenarios in a visually appealing and easy-to-understand manner that enables users to recognize the opportunities to reduce GHG emissions, the implications of the different scenarios, and the underlying assumptions.

To facilitate the application of the portal and tools in policy dialogues, a series of country-specific and potentially sector-specific workshops with key decision-makers and analysts will be organized.

The session feature a brief presentation of the developments with the ESP and the prototype format in an informal setting. Participants will be encouraged to provide feedback and guidance on how to ensure the approach is as useful as possible, as well as any potential interest to partner on the project.
